About Us

What is Plushmusic?

Plushmusic is a website dedicated to the production and enjoyment of the very highest quality live classical, jazz, contemporary and world music.

Is Plushmusic free to use?

Plushmusic hosts a mix of musical performances and features; some are available to watch online for free, while others are paid-for downloads.

Who benefits from Plushmusic?

Whenever money changes hands, at least 50% of it goes to the performers involved as a royalty, so all purchases directly support artists. The rest of the money covers the costs of maintaining the site and making new recordings.

What format are downloads in?

All videos are .MP4 files, with H.264 video and AAC audio. They will play in Quicktime, iTunes and VLC.

Audio files are available in MP3, Apple Lossless and FLAC formats. If you use iTunes, you'll want Apple Lossless, or MP3s if you are short on disk space. If you're not sure what FLAC is, then you probably don't want to choose that option.

Most videos are high definition (720p), but check the text under the "add to cart" buttons to check. Some releases are audio only, and some releases also include "studio quality" 24 bit FLAC files.

Who is behind this?

Plushmusic is a new company founded by the cellist Adrian Brendel and saxophonist Hayden Chisholm, in partnership with the technology entrepreneur Stephen Jelley. It is run almost exclusively by professional musicians. Its executive producer is former Radio 3 producer Lyndon Jones. The site is produced by Matthew Jolly.
